Telangana: Seven students allegedly die by suicide after intermediate exam results

Telangana: Seven intermediate students, including two girls, allegedly died by suicide across Telangana hours after the state board released the results of the Intermediate Public Examination 2024 for the first (equivalent of Class 11) and second year (Class 12).

Telangana: Seven intermediate students, including two girls, allegedly died by suicide across Telangana hours after the state board released the results of the Intermediate Public Examination 2024 for the first (equivalent of Class 11) and second year (Class 12).

After receiving information about this incident, Police said the deaths were reported in the last 48 hours after the results were released on Wednesday.

About this incident, Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police said the two girls who allegedly took their lives after failed in the examination.The cases were reported from Rajendranagar, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Kollur.

A senior police official from Mancherial District said they received reports that three intermediate first year students suspected to have died by suicide at different places due to failure in examinations. According to the report, the first case was reported in Mancherial district, where a 16-year-old student hanged himself at his home.

The student had failed in four subjects. The police said that The students who committed suicide were aged 16 or 17 years. They took their lives by hanging, jumping into a community well or drowning in a pond.

Another boy, from Nallakunta area, was found dead at Jadcherla near a railway track. Police suspect the reason for his death to be poor performance in the exams. Over 9.8 lakh students appeared in the intermediate exams held earlier this year.
