New Delhi: On Monday, A 22-year-old youth died after falling into an underground water tank in a hostel in Anjaya Nagar of Gachibowli, Hyderabad. After receiving information about this incident local police reached on the spot. The incident was seen on CCTV camera.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Akmal. He was a software professional. Official said that in CCTV footage shows he walking in carrying groceries. The square hole of the water tank has no lid.
Official added that he walks four steps and then falls into the tank. After falling into the opened water tank, the man suffered severe head injuries which ultimately resulted in his demise. A few seconds later, a man, a woman and two children come out of a flat located on the ground floor.
The man inserts a water pipe into the tank for Mr Akmal, but he does not get any response. After the incident, the police have registered a case against the hostel owner for negligence in maintaining safety measures, specifically for leaving the sump lid open and further investigations are underway.
