Telangana: Circle Inspector attacked by villagers in Khammam reserved forest area; 21 Detained

Hyderabad: In a shocking turn of events on Sunday, a circle inspector along with a police team to control the law and order situation near Chandrapalem village in Sattupalem mandal of Telangana was attacked by a mob in the Khammam reserved forest area. There was tension between local villagers and another group over a piece of land. On receiving information about the clash between the two groups, a team of 10-15 policemen as well as forest officials reached the spot.

Why was the circle officer targeted? It is not clear yet. A video shows a group of them pulling a recently appointed policeman (who was wearing civilian clothes) off his bike and beating him with their fists. Another policeman was trying to pull him.

The clip further shows the tribals going after the circle officer, while the uniformed policemen are trying to save the circle inspector.

A senior officer said they are investigating why only the circle inspector was targeted and whether it was a conspiracy?
