Thai national and Vistara airlines staffer booked with 1.12 Kg gold at Delhi airport

New Delhi: A case of smuggling of more than 1 kg of gold has come to light at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Two accused including a foreign national have been arrested in this case. According to the information received, the value of the seized gold is Rs 58 lakh in the market. The official said here that a case in this regard was registered on June 12 against a Thai national who had come here from Dubai.

The official said that the accused had planned to go back to Bangkok (Thailand) on the same day. According to a statement issued by the Customs Department on Monday, during the investigation, it was found that he had smuggled the gold by handing over the gold in the form of coating to the employee of the aviation company Vistara. A total of 1.12 kg gold worth Rs 57.65 lakh has been recovered from the gold coating, the statement said. Both the accused have been arrested after seizing the gold.

According to the information received, two accused have been arrested in this case. One of the arrested accused was a resident of Thailand. The accused foreign national was about to return after handing over the smuggled gold to the airlines employee but he has now been arrested. Along with the foreign national, an employee of Vistara Airlines has also been arrested.
