Balu Damu Mahalunge (50), the watchman of the farmhouse, reported to the police that a dog residing on the premises returned from outside carrying an object in its mouth. Tragically, the dog bit into the object, resulting in an explosion that claimed its life. Additionally, another dog at the farmhouse had previously been injured after biting into a similar object brought in from outside.

The Shahapur police responded by registering a case under Indian Penal Code sections 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle or an animal) and 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with the intent to cause damage).
