Tiruppur/Tamil Nadu: A case of cruelty to a minor girl has unfolded in Tamil Nadu. A 17-year-old girl, who had come to attend a religious procession in Vellakoil limits in the state, was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by seven people. As soon as the information was received, Seven persons who had reportedly assaulted a minor girl sexually arrested by police.

On March 9, the girl visited the village to attend the Veerakumarasamy temple chariot festival when she was lured by two men to an isolated location with the promise of capturing her dance moves and uploading the video on social media. Both of them had sexually harassed her. On getting information about the incident, five other youths also indulged in the assault.
After a complaint from the victim’s family, two special teams of Tamil Nadu police were formed. The teams arrested a 32-year-old accused from Kamarajapurqm and the other 29-year-old accused.
All the accused individuals, recognised as, Manikandan (29), Prabakaran (32), Dineshkumar (28), Balasubramani (30), Navinkumar (26), Nandakumar (30) and Tamilselvan (28) were charged under POCSO Act and remanded in judicial custody at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
