Unveiling Delhi’s Child-Trafficking Racket: Newborns Sold for ₹5 Lakh Each

In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at various locations across Delhi, uncovering a distressing case of child trafficking. The operation resulted in the rescue of two newborn babies from a house situated in Keshavpuram, shining a light on a dark underworld where infants were bought and sold as commodities.

Sources within the CBI revealed that newborns were being traded in the black market, leading to a thorough interrogation of all involved parties. This includes the woman responsible for selling the children as well as the buyers who engaged in this illegal trade.

The investigation’s scope transcends the boundaries of Delhi, with the CBI making arrests of individuals implicated in trafficking seven to eight children across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Among those apprehended are a hospital ward boy and several women. The CBI sources indicate that in the past month alone, approximately 10 children have been sold through this illicit network.

Expanding its probe, the CBI’s investigation now spans multiple states, with a focus on several major hospitals. Shockingly, newborns were being sold for substantial sums ranging from ₹ 4 to 5 lakh, as per the sources.

The CBI emphasized that further investigation into this distressing matter is ongoing, as they work to dismantle this reprehensible black market of child trafficking.
