UP: Section 144 imposed in Kanpur after gangster Sanjeev shot dead

Lucknow: Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur following the firing incident in the Lucknow court premises in which gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot dead before a hearing. Kanpur Additional Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur city with the aim of maintaining law and order.

Lucknow: Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur following the firing incident in the Lucknow court premises in which gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot dead before a hearing. Kanpur Additional Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur city with the aim of maintaining law and order.

Let us tell you that gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot dead in the court premises itself after being brought for hearing. In which he was seriously injured but later the police confirmed that the gangster succumbed to his injuries.

According to sources, Uttar Pradesh’s Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar on Wednesday issued an order directing all district superintendents of police to immediately beef up security at all district courts after the firing incident. Metal detectors and other equipment will also be installed in the court premises, an official statement quoted Kumar as saying.

The security of the courts in the district and commissionerate should be reviewed. The security arrangements for the accused appearing in the courts should be strengthened. Intelligence and social media cells should also be activated and alerted in this regard.

In his order, Prashant Kumar said that proper security arrangements should be made in all the court premises in coordination with the District Judge/District Magistrate and Bar Association officials in all the districts.

However, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the three-member SIT comprising Mohit Agarwal, ADG Technical; Joint CP Neelabja Chaudhary of Lucknow and IG Praveen Kumar of Ayodhya have been formed to investigate the incident.

Lucknow Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rahul Raj said that Sanjeev Jiva was shot and died. Two of our constables also sustained injuries but are out of danger. Presently he is undergoing treatment.
