Washington: There was a stir on Sunday after cocaine was found in the White House, considered to be the safest place in the world. Officers from the Uniform Division of the US Secret Service found some suspicious powder lying on the floor in the White House.
The White House was briefly evacuated after suspicious substances were found. At that time US President Joe Biden was at Camp David.
Fire and emergency crews were called in to test on Sunday. Preliminary investigation confirmed the presence of cocaine. The White House was soon opened up and the powder sent for further testing.
Biden and his family left for Camp David on Friday and returned to the White House on Tuesday.
The Secret Service said in a statement that the White House was locked down as a precaution while emergency crews investigated and the District of Columbia Fire Department was called in to investigate and determine whether the substance was a hazard.
According to media reports, the DC Fire Department Hazmat team working under the US Secret Service was called after powder was found on the floor. Collected the powder lying on the floor and in the investigation it was confirmed to be cocaine hydrochloride, which is actually cocaine. This was also revealed due to the leaking of an audio clip of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department. However, the US Secret Service has not given any concrete information on this till the time of writing the news.
