Uttarakhand: On Monday, Police said that a leopard was mauled to killed a boy in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. According to police information, the boy was 11-year-old.
Giving details about this incident, they said the incident happened when Ankit (11) was playing with friends in an agricultural field near his house in Gawad village near Khirsu Khand on Saturday evening .
The forest department officials said that as the animal attacked him, the boy raised an alarm. He added that the animal fled after villagers rushed to Ankit’s rescue.
After the incident,the boy was taken to the Shrikot hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The incident has spread panic in the area. A team of forest officials led by Ranger Lalit Mohan has been deployed in the village. Police team has also been deployed
Swapnil Anirudh, Divisional Forest Officer, Garhwal, told media that it is yet to be ascertained whether the boy was attacked by a leopard or some other animal. He said that more details would emerge once the post-mortem report arrives. He added that forest officials are regularly patrolling the area.
