In a heartbreaking incident in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, a seven-year-old boy battling blood cancer lost his life after his parents believed that dipping him in the Ganga River would cure his ailment. The tragic incident occurred at Har ki Pauri, where the child’s parents, accompanied by his aunt, performed rituals and chanted mantras while submerging him in the river, ignoring his distressing cries.

Details of the Incident:


The boy’s parents, accompanied by his aunt, performed rituals and chanted mantras on the banks of Har ki Pauri while subjecting the child to the repeated dips in the Ganga. Despite the child’s loud cries and the intervention attempts by bystanders, the aunt continued the act until the child suffocated and lost his life.

Child’s Medical Condition:


The seven-year-old boy was suffering from blood cancer and had been residing with his parents in Delhi. Despite his critical health condition, the parents resorted to superstitious beliefs in an attempt to cure their child. Unfortunately, the outcome was fatal as the boy drowned during the ritual.

Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation:


The Station House Officer (SHO) of the Har ki Pauri police station, Bhavna Kainthola, confirmed the boy’s cause of death as drowning. The police have initiated further inquiries into the incident to understand the details surrounding the tragic event. The parents and aunt are being questioned to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the child’s untimely death.
