Uttarakhand: Warning of heavy rain in 6 districts today, monsoon may reach in next 3 days

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain at some places in the state for the next four days. A red alert has been issued for heavy rain and hailstorm in six districts including Dehradun and Nainital since Saturday. Apart from this, monsoon can knock in the state on June 25-26.

New Delhi: The weather pattern has changed in Uttarakhand. Clouds are hovering in most areas. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Dehradun and surrounding areas. Whereas, there was light rain at some places in the hilly areas.

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain at some places in the state for the next four days. A red alert has been issued for heavy rain and hailstorm in six districts including Dehradun and Nainital since Saturday. Apart from this, monsoon can knock in the state on June 25-26.

There is a camp of clouds in the state for the last two days. The rains are also continuing at some places. Heavy rains occurred in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Nainital on Thursday. Due to which public life got affected. However, the surrounding hilly areas including Chardham remained partly cloudy. Even today, there are chances of change in the weather in the lower areas of the state.

According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, pre-monsoon showers have intensified in the state. There is a possibility of one to two rounds of intense showers and gusty winds at many places along with thunder and lightning in the state on Friday. Orange alert has been issued regarding this.

There is a red alert regarding the weather in the state from Saturday to Monday. Heavy rains may occur in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Along with this, gusty winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph at some places. Concerned districts have been advised to be vigilant due to the possibility of disaster.

According to the Meteorological Center, the southwest monsoon has reached Odisha, Bengal and Jharkhand. Monsoon is likely to reach Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next three days.

Monsoon may knock in Champawat and surrounding areas in Uttarakhand. After this, it may take one to two days for it to become active in the entire state.
