Hyderabad: A 20-year-old student of IIT-Hyderabad allegedly ended his life by jumping into the sea here. The student was troubled by his backlog. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
Police said Dhanvath Karthik might have drowned in the sea around July 19 and his body was recovered on July 20 with the help of fishermen. Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner C.M. Trivikram Verma said, “He could not concentrate on his studies which resulted in his backlog.”
During investigation, it was found that the victim’s cell phone was last on July 19 at Ramakrishna Beach (RK Beach) in Visakhapatnam and as per CCTV footage he was seen walking in the danger zone of the beach.
Was worried about not being able to clear the backlog in the examinations
According to the police, Karthik had left Hyderabad on July 17 as he was upset over not being able to clear the backlog in the examinations.
Karthik was first found missing from his hostel room on July 17, after which the IIT-Hyderabad authorities registered a missing case on July 19. Based on preliminary enquiry, it was also found that the student had two backlogs (in two subjects). The tribal student was a resident of Nalgonda district of Telangana.
