Mangaluru: Alleged CCTV footage captures bone-chilling incident, a woman brutally assaults her elderly 87-year-old father-in-law with a steel walking stick at their home in Karnataka’s Mangaluru. The incident that took place on March 9 has sent shockwaves across social media platforms.

The footage, which has rapidly garnered traction on social media, showcases an act of abuse that has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for justice among the civil society in Mangaluru.

CCTV Shows Brutal Assault

In the horrific incident caught on camera, a 87-year-old man, Padmanabha Suvarna, was subjected to vicious beating by his daughter-in-law, Uma Shankari, a Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) officer, in Kulshekar of Mangaluru. The assault, which occurred on March 9, involved the use of a walking stick, leaving the elderly victim severely injured.

Accused is seen closing the door of the house and again raising the walking stick to hit him. But, she doesn’t proceed to hit him and keeps the stick back, alleged CCTV footage shows.

The doctor treating the Padmanabha told sources that there were multiple injuries on the body of the victim including a head injury which he received during a fall on a wooden sofa at the site of the attack.

It was immediately not known what caused the woman to hit her father-in-law with his walking stick.

Padmanabha was swiftly rushed to a private hospital with severe injuries. Her daughter filed a police complaint, following which Uma was subsequently arrested. Uma has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days
