World Cup 2023: Invulnerable India enters semi-finals after smashing Netherlands by 160 runs on Diwali day

New Delhi: India put in another intimidating performance with both bat and ball as they defeated Netherlands by 160 runs in their final league game of the World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue thumped the Netherlands by 160 runs to continue their unbeaten run and finished at the top of the points table with 18 points to their credit in nine games. The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed every opposition that came in its path and was the first team to qualify for the semis of the spectacle.

In the World Cup 2023 face-to-face at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, the Indian team performed brilliantly and scored a strong score of 410 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer emerged as the anchors of the innings, both scoring crucial 128 runs.

The Indian innings was the epitome of cricketing mastery, starting with vital contributions from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. The narrative took a compelling turn as Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul took the baton, both notching up centuries and catapulting India to a commanding 410 runs. The duo’s innings, marked by Iyer’s 128 runs and Rahul’s 102 runs, stood as the cornerstone of India’s batting showcase.

India became the only team in the tournament to travel the most and play at nine different venues during the round-robin stage. They started off with their campaign opener against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and played their last group game in Bengaluru thereby adapting and excelling in different conditions.

Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah contributed with a double scalp. In a double delight for fans on the festival day, Virat Kohli hit 51 and rolled his arm ver, picking up a wicket, his first in World Cups as he got the opposition captain Scott Edwards.

Rohit Sharma also tried his hand at bowling and got the final wicket to finish things off on Diwali.

In response, Netherlands had to grapple with the difficult task of chasing India’s target. Despite putting up a fight, the team faltered against the strong Indian bowling attack and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Dutch scored a total of 188 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 40 overs, which shows that the Indian players had a strong hold on the match.
