New Delhi: Two people died on Monday due to severe flooding in the central-southern region of Chile. While thousands of people have become homeless. Meanwhile, President Gabriel Boric visited the affected areas and declared a state of disaster.

Let us tell you that in late June, the areas around Chile received the heaviest rainfall in three decades. Which was further increased due to El-Nino. This was followed by more rain in the central-southern part of Chile.

Forecasters expect more rain in this mountainous region. Officials have warned that this will increase the risk of floods and landslides. According to Chile’s disaster agency Senapred, more than 26,000 people have been cut off from basic services and around 34,000 have been evacuated from the affected area.

At the same time, Sylvia Rojas, who was affected by the flood, told that due to this her house has been damaged and her belongings have also been destroyed. Meanwhile, President Gabriel Boric has urged Chileans to obey evacuation orders.

The President said on Monday that do not take lightly the order that has been issued and immediately vacate your homes and reach safe places. Let us tell you that due to heavy rains and storms in Chile, thousands of people have become homeless and the roads in the south-central region of the country have also been badly affected. Earlier, the government had declared a state of disaster in June as well.
