In the wake of the recent cyclone and widespread flooding in Tamil Nadu, the railway track in Alwarthirunagari, Thoothukudi district, has suffered damage due to heavy rainfall. Repair efforts are currently underway to address the issue as the state copes with the aftermath of the natural calamities.

Despite ongoing repair work, certain areas like Chinnamani Nagar and Millerpuram Housing Board are still grappling with stagnant rainwater, significantly impacting normal life. Suburbs such as P & T Colony, Raju Nagar, and Ashok Nagar in Thoothukudi remain inundated, compounded by the accumulation of substantial amounts of garbage.

Telangana and Puducherry Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan visited flood-affected areas in Thoothukudi and criticized the MK Stalin government for what she termed as a mishandling of the situation. She emphasized the need for better precautionary measures and accused the state government of failing to effectively manage the flood situation.
