Kota/Rajasthan: A case of alleged gang rape of a 40-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh has come to light in the Railway Colony area of Kota, Rajasthan. Police said that the daily wage laborer woman was allegedly raped by seven to eight people. Police have registered the case and arrested seven accused.
One accused is still absconding. Police said that when the woman was returning home from work, three-four people surrounded her at around 8.30 pm. She said that they took her to a secluded place near a power substation where they took turns to rape her.
She told that after this the accused called three-four friends and they also raped her. Police said that on the night the woman was raped, her husband was in his native village in Madhya Pradesh. Based on the woman’s complaint, the police registered a case under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
Police area officer Pankaj Yadav said that 8 accused have been identified and seven have been arrested. He told that one accused is still absconding. He said that the statement of the victim was recorded before the magistrate on Monday. He said that out of the eight accused, two have criminal background.
On the other hand, a Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Shahdol district has been arrested on charges of raping a 20-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. An officer of MIG police station gave this information on Monday. He told that 30 year old CMO was arrested from Shahdol district. Police said that the CMO and the victim student were already familiar with each other.
The survivor’s statement was recorded before a magistrate on Monday, he said.
Two of the eight accused have a criminal history, he added.
