In a startling revelation, the Bareilly Central Jail in Uttar Pradesh has come under scrutiny after a murder accused, identified as Asif, was found hosting a live video on a social media platform from within the confines of the prison. Following an investigation into the matter, three jail warders have been suspended, and further disciplinary actions have been initiated.
The incident came to light when a two-minute video featuring Asif surfaced on social media, wherein he is heard proclaiming, “I am in heaven and enjoying it.” The revelation prompted an immediate response from authorities and raised questions about the security protocols within the prison premises.
Upon discovering the video, the jail administration swiftly launched an investigation into the matter. Subsequently, three jail warders—Ravi Shankar Dwivedi, Hans Jeev Sharma, and Gopal Pandey—were suspended for dereliction of duty. Additionally, the deputy jailor, Kishan Singh Baldia, has been reassigned to Jail Headquarters Lucknow.
In addition to the suspensions, written explanations have been sought from jailors Vijay Kumar Rai and Neeraj Kumar regarding the incident. The actions aim to hold responsible parties accountable for any lapses in security that allowed the accused to access a mobile phone within the prison premises.
Despite thorough barrack searches conducted as part of the investigation, no objectionable items were recovered. The authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to maintain the integrity and security of the prison facility.
Asif stands accused of fatally shooting a Public Works Department (PWD) contractor, Rakesh Yadav, in broad daylight on December 2, 2019, in the Sadar Bazar Police Station area of Shahjahanpur. He is currently incarcerated at Bareilly Central Jail along with another accused, Rahul Chaudhury, implicated in the same crime.
