Advisory issued for Kedarnath yatra pilgrims after rain, snowfall alert

In view of the possibility of rain and snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions, an alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for the next 2-3 days. On the alert of the Meteorological Department, the state government has currently closed the registration for Kedarnath Dham Yatra.

Rudraprayag: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy snowfall on the Kedarnath Dham route. In view of the possibility of rain and snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions, an alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for the next 2-3 days. At the same time, the registration for the visit of Kedarnath Dham has been closed till May 3.

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit appealed to the pilgrims coming to Kedarnath Dham and said that “till the weather improves, the pilgrims should stay at one place and travel intermittently. All the pilgrims should take special care of their safety and the state government and the district administration Cooperate with the district administration by following the issued guidelines.

He further said that there is continuous snowfall in Kedarnath Dham at this time and the yatra is being controlled. Passengers are not allowed to go to Kedarnath after 10:30 am from Sonprayag. All the pilgrims are expected to start their journey to Kedarnath only when the weather is fine.

According to an official statement, the weather is expected to remain bad in Kedarghati this week. On the alert of the Meteorological Department, the state government has currently closed the registration for Kedarnath Dham Yatra.

Earlier, due to the forecast of snowfall and rain by the Meteorological Department till April 29, the state government on Sunday stopped the registration of pilgrims for Kedarnath till the 30th. Whereas at many places including Rishikesh, Gaurikund, Guptkashi and Sonprayag, passengers were asked to stay there.
