Ayodhya Welcomes 2024 with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Chants at Lata Mangeshkar Chow. Local residents gathered at the iconic roundabout as early as 11 pm, creating a lively prelude to the main event. At the stroke of midnight, a jubilant chorus of “Happy New Year” gave way to the resonant echoes of “Jai Shri Ram,” symbolizing both the year-end festivities and the city’s cultural roots.
Named after the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Chowk has become a hotspot for selfies, gaining further prominence after a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent roadshow. Notably, security personnel were strategically deployed to ensure a secure and seamless transition from the outgoing year to 2024.
One celebrant, Rekha Sengupta, shared her joy, stating, “Today is my birthday, and we are soon celebrating the New Year. Tomorrow, we plan to visit Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan, and the newly-built airport.”
Enthusiasm is palpable in Ayodhya, heightened by the anticipation of the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram temple scheduled for January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in this historic event, further elevating the city’s celebratory spirit.
The festivities also showcased the blending of tradition and modernity, with numerous individuals, especially the youth, capturing memorable moments through selfies at the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk near Naya Ghat.
