Barabanki School Bus Accident: The Barabanki district education office has recommended the suspension of Gyanesh Kumar Verma, the head teacher of Composite School Harkka Vikas Khand Suratganj, Barabanki. This decision follows the tragic accident involving a school bus on April 2, resulting in the loss of three young lives and injuries to 37 children.
Educational Tour to Lucknow Zoo: The bus, carrying 42 children and staff members, was returning from an educational tour to Lucknow Zoo when the accident occurred.
Tragic Turn of Events: Near Salarpur at Deva, around 5:30 pm, the bus driver lost control while attempting to avoid a motorcyclist. The bus overturned, leading to the unfortunate loss of three school children’s lives and leaving several others injured.
Head Teacher’s Negligence: Following an investigation, the district basic education officer, Santosh Kumar Dev Pandey, found Verma guilty of negligence.
Failure to Act: Verma was accused of not reaching the accident site promptly and failing to inform the education department in a timely manner.
Lack of Permission: Additionally, Verma did not obtain permission from the BSA (Block Education Officer) regarding the educational tour, which was a violation of protocol.
Suspension Recommended: As a result, the district education office has recommended Verma’s suspension. He has been attached to the BRC (block resource centre) Suratganj.
Ongoing Investigation: The case will be further investigated by the Block Education Officer of Dariyabad to determine the extent of Verma’s accountability in the tragic incident.
Parental Permission: It’s noted that Verma had obtained parental consent through the School Management Committee of Harkka Suratganj Barabanki for the educational tour to Lucknow Zoo.
