In a recent development, the Bihar government has announced holidays for school teachers on both Eid-ul-Fitr and Ram Navami. This decision comes in response to concerns raised by teachers regarding their inability to observe these holidays due to a residential training program.
According to a statement issued by the Education Department, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has mandated holidays on April 10 and 11 for Eid-ul-Fitr and April 17 for Ram Navami.
The Education Department confirmed that CM Nitish Kumar acknowledged the concerns expressed by teachers and took swift action to address them. The directive aims to ensure that teachers can enjoy these significant religious holidays without any hindrance.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been conducting residential training programs for teachers across 78 government centers in Bihar. However, the scheduling of these programs during religious holidays had sparked controversy and led to concerns among teachers.
Last month, a row erupted when the Bihar education department scheduled a training program for government teachers and annual examinations for school students on Holi and Good Friday. This move received criticism, with opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav urging CM Nitish Kumar to intervene in the matter and prioritize teachers’ well-being.
