Patna: In yet another brutal murder in Bihar, a meat shop owner was neutralised by two bike-borne gunmen in broad daylight in Muzaffarpur district of the state on Wednesday. The victim, Afroz Khatri, who ran a meat shop in Rambagh Chowk, was heading to his shop on Wednesday morning, when the unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and fired upon him, killing him on the spot.

The entire horrific murder was captured on camera and showed Afroz Khatri walking on the road when two motorcycle-borne gunmen come up behind him and shoot him dead. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no suspects have been identified yet. A video of the incident showing two bike-borne men shooting Khatri, has gone viral.

Onlookers said that he was on the way to his shop when two bikers approached him and shot at him twice. The victim died on the spot. Following the incident, local residents forced traders to shut the market. They blocked the road and burnt tyres.

The unembarrassed daylight murder of the mutton shop owner triggered anger among residents, leading to protests with the body placed in the middle of the road. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the site to pacify the agitated crowd. Khatri’s body was subsequently sent for post-mortem to a government-run hospital in the city.

While narrating about the incident, one of the victim’s relatives, Alam, revealed that Khatri owned a mutton shop at Masjid Chowk. “He was walking towards his shop from home when he was surrounded by two assailants who shot him dead,” he said.

Mithanpura Police Station SHO said that police received information about the incident around 7 am, stating that a person had been shot near Ram Bagh Chowk. Upon reaching the scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The attackers, riding a motorcycle, had fled the spot after committing the crime.

“Though there was a brief road blockade by agitated locals, the situation was later brought under control, and further investigations are underway,” the SHO said
