Kolkata: On Tuesday, The Kolkata Police said the bomb threats email received by several schools in Kolkata were hoax and a case has been lodged against the sender and began a probe.
In a statement, Kolkata Police said,“It has come to our attention that some schools in the city have received an email threatening the presence of bombs. We want to assure you that this email is a hoax and there is no credible threat to any school. In the past, similar emails were sent to schools in cities like Bangalore and Chennai,”

The police also urged parents to remain calm and assured them of the safety of their children. Several reputed schools in the city received emails from an unknown person on Sunday night, claiming that bombs had been planted in classrooms.
“In the meantime, we urge everyone to refrain from spreading rumours or panicking.We are also in touch with the schools for any help they need,” the statement said. A senior police officer said the Internet Protocol (IP) address from which the mails were sent was traced to the Netherlands.
