In a recent development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that a liquor businessman from the south met Arvind Kejriwal, seeking support in a case involving a Rs 100 crore kickback. It’s claimed that Kejriwal assured him that K Kavitha would be in touch regarding the matter.
The CBI further asserts that Kavitha, a leader from Telangana, subsequently contacted the businessman, referring to his meeting with Kejriwal. Allegedly, she requested a meeting in Hyderabad and mentioned Vijay Nair, another accused in the case.
According to the CBI, Kavitha instructed the businessman to arrange Rs 100 crore upfront, with a contribution of Rs 50 crore from him. Additionally, it’s alleged that Vijay Nair received kickbacks on behalf of AAP leaders.
Kavitha, currently in Tihar Jail after arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, faces further charges from the CBI. The court is yet to decide on the CBI’s plea for her custody, amidst claims of non-cooperation and legal challenges from her side.
