Rajiv Kumar Receives ‘Z’ Category CRPF Security Cover

Official sources revealed on Tuesday that the Centre has provided Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar with ‘Z’ category CRPF security cover nationwide. This decision comes following a threat perception report prepared by central security agencies, which recommended robust security measures for the CEC.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with the task of deploying a contingent of around 40-45 armed commandos to ensure the safety of CEC Rajiv Kumar. These armed commandos will accompany him during his travels across the country, enhancing security during his official engagements.

Rajiv Kumar, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1984 batch, assumed the role of the 25th Chief Election Commissioner on May 15, 2022. Prior to this, he served as an election commissioner, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise to his current position.
