Delhi Police Issue Traffic Advisory Ahead of AAP Protest at PM Modi’s Residence

Delhi: As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gears up to gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory, anticipating disruptions in the New Delhi area.

Traffic Restrictions in Place

Delhi Traffic Police announced stringent measures, prohibiting vehicles from halting or parking on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg on March 26. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes due to expected congestion owing to the planned demonstration.

Traffic Management Measures

To ensure smooth traffic flow, the police will divert traffic if necessary, particularly at key junctures such as Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlak Road, and various roundabouts along Safdarjung Road. Additionally, commuters are urged to steer clear of Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg.

AAP’s Protest Plans

AAP’s Delhi convenor, Gopal Rai, announced the party’s intent to protest Kejriwal’s arrest by gathering at PM Modi’s residence. Rai expressed outrage over the alleged obstruction faced by AAP representatives attempting to meet Kejriwal’s family members following his arrest.

Arvind Kejriwal’s Custodial Status

Kejriwal, taken into custody by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to his government’s excise policy, remains under agency detention until March 28. The developments have sparked widespread condemnation and calls for solidarity among opposition parties.
