Meanwhile, PM Modi called Amit Shah from France to take stock of the flood situation in Delhi. Shah told the PM, the water level of Yamuna may decrease in the next 24 hours.

At 6 am, Yamuna water levels stood at 208.46 metres, slightly lower than yesterday night’s 208.66. The Central Water Commission has predicted that the water levels will fall today and could reach 208.30 metres by 1 pm.

The road outside the Supreme Court in Delhi is waterlogged. The flood water has reached Yamuna Bazaar, Red Fort, Raj Ghat and ISBT-Kashmere Gate. Here the water was filled up to 3 feet.

The floodwaters even reached the Supreme Court, located in the Tilak Marg area in the central part of the city. Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the government has directed the chief secretary to take up the matter of the damage to the regulator on priority and resolve the problem.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will go to ITO at 11 am to take stock of Yamuna’s water and condition. On the other hand, Delhi’s Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj says that overnight the teams of Delhi government have tried to correct the regulator of number 12 drain near the WHO building. However, still Yamuna water is entering the city. The government has asked the Chief Secretary to take immediate action.

Delhi authorities have said that there will be drinking water and power cuts in some areas of the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Union Home Minister Amit Shah from France and enquired about the flood-like situation in parts of Delhi, sources said. During their telephone conversation, Mr Shah briefed PM Modi about the flood-like situation and told him that the water level in the Yamuna is expected to recede in the next 24 hours.
