Many houses have collapsed due to heavy landslide in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The horrifying incident has been caught on camera, although the extent of the damage is yet to be known, but the latest reports so far are that several people are trapped under the debris.

New Delhi: Dramatic visuals shows massive Landslide hits Himachal’s Kullu, Several Houses Collapse like house of cards. Many people are suspected to be trapped in the debris of collapsed buildings and houses in the massive landslide in the hilly area. Visuals of the landslide show many multi-storeyed buildings collapsing, leaving behind a massive trail of dust and debris.

The horrifying incident of landslide has been surfaced on social media. In which it can be seen how the houses in the valley collapsed due to the crack of the mountain. Several multi-storey buildings are seen collapsing in the landslide scenes. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert warning of heavy to very heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh for the next two days from today. A video from a top angle showed the massive landslide taking the multiple buildings down with itself.

Due to red alert, heavy downpour lashes many parts of the state, due to which the residents are facing severe weather conditions. Hundreds of vehicles are today stranded on the damaged Kullu-Mandi highway following heavy rains in the district. “The road connecting Kullu and Mandi has been damaged. An alternate route via Pandoh has also been damaged. Hence, traffic movement is currently suspended,” Kullu senior police officer Sakshi Verma was quoted as saying by sources.

A total of 709 roads have been closed due to three major spells of heavy rain this monsoon season. The Himachal Pradesh government estimates that a total loss of Rs 8,014.61 crore has been caused to public infrastructure since June 24, when the monsoon hit the state.

According to state government figures, 2,022 houses have been completely damaged and 9,615 houses have been partially damaged due to the rains. 113 landslides have also been reported in the state, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and displacing thousands of people. A government bulletin said the rains claimed 224 lives, while 117 others died in rain-related accidents.
