ED Summons AAP’s Goa Chief and Others in Delhi Liquor Scam Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa president Amit Palekar, along with others, in connection to the Delhi liquor scam case. This comes amid Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s custody by the ED in the same case, with the Delhi High Court deferring relief until April 3.

In the ongoing investigation, the ED has called upon individuals including Ramarao Wagh, Datta Prasad Naik, and Ashok Naik, president of Bhandari Samaj, to join the probe on Thursday.

Additionally, the ED has conducted searches related to a money laundering case involving Delhi AAP leader Deepak Singla. Singla, who contested unsuccessfully in the Delhi assembly polls on an AAP ticket from the Vishwas Nagar seat, had premises linked to him searched by the ED’s Chandigarh Zonal Offices.

Amidst these developments, a Delhi BJP delegation has urged Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora to investigate the authenticity of letters purportedly written by Kejriwal from ED custody. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged that these letters may be fake and demanded scrutiny into the role of Kejriwal’s ministers, Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, who claimed to have received them.

Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 and subsequent custody by the ED till March 28 stems from allegations of his involvement in a conspiracy related to the formulation of the Delhi excise policy favoring specific individuals.

The controversy further escalated last week when Water Minister Atishi revealed a note from Kejriwal directing her to address issues concerning water supply and sewer in the city.
