Engineering student in Warangal dies by suicide after her male friend leaks her personal pics

Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, A third-year engineering student in Telangana’s Warangal district committed suicide after being disturbed by some photographs uploaded on social media by two of her childhood friends. The student has been identified as 20-year-old Rakshita. The girl was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her relative’s house at Ramannapet in Warangal city on Sunday night. Rakshita, a resident of Bhupalpally, was a BTech third year student at an engineering college in Narasampet.

According to the police, the girl student was friends with Jaswant and Rahul, who were studying in Class 10. He took this step because some photographs taken by his friends in the past went viral on social media. Police have registered a case against Jaswant and Rahul and special teams have been formed to nab them. The police clarified that it was not a case of ragging as claimed on social media.

A police officer said that both the youths were not pursuing college studies. The Warangal Police is also trying to get information about the past records of Jaswant and Rahul. Rahul was allegedly harassing the girl for some time. The family lodged a complaint with the Bhupalpally police, who called the youth and counseled him.

Rakshita, who had come to her home in Bhupalpally on Mahashivratri, left for college the next day, but she did not turn up and her parents lodged a missing complaint with the police. She returned home two days later. The student told her father P. Shankar that she was facing difficulties in staying in the hostel, following which her father sent her to her brother’s house in Ramannapet. He was supposed to go to Bhupalpally police station on Monday in the missing case, but a day before he committed suicide at his uncle’s house.
