New Delhi: In a horrific turn of events, a 52-year-old man died after a scuffle broke out between him and his two neighbours who had allegedly harassed the former’s daughter. During the heat of the moment, the 52-year-old man died after he was pushed to the ground by the two men.
The incident unfolded at a residential complex in Faridabad’s Sector 87 on Monday night. Police said the victim objected to the people who were harassing his daughter and an altercation broke out.
Victim Prem Mehta and his family members, residents of Princess Park society in Sector 87 of Faridabad, were participating in a garba event on the premises of the residential complex Monday night. Two young men from the residential complex approached Mr Mehta’s 25-year-old daughter during dandiya dance and asked for her contact number. They also allegedly asked her to dance with them.
This triggers a huge altercation between the Mehtas and the two men. Mr Mehta, his wife and his son confronted the men and asked them why they had approached his daughter. A video of the incident shows the two sides grabbing collars and pushing each other.
During scuffle, the men at one point, pushed Mr Mehta. He fell to the ground and lost consciousness. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to police officer Jameel Khan, FIR has been registered following a police complaint by Mr Mehta’s family. In their complaint, they have alleged that they harassed his daughter and assaulted the 52-year-old. The autopsy is being done and investigating into the matter is underway, said Mr Khan.
