In a concerning incident, five individuals were hospitalized after reportedly consuming contaminated mouth freshener at a restaurant in Gurugram sector 90. Ankit Kumar, who refrained from ingesting the mouth freshener due to his daughter’s presence, alerted authorities when his companions fell ill.
Those who consumed the mouth fresheners began experiencing vomiting and bleeding from their mouths shortly after ingestion. Ankit Kumar, along with his wife and friends, filed a complaint with the police, alleging that the restaurant staff offered them the mouth fresheners after their meal.
Upon examination at the hospital, medical professionals identified the substance in the mouth fresheners as ‘dry ice,’ a hazardous acid that can pose severe health risks if ingested.
Authorities have taken action by registering a case under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the distribution of the contaminated mouth fresheners at the restaurant.
