IMD forecast warns heatwave to increase again in North India including Delhi from today

New Delhi: North India, which has been reeling under the scorching heat and heat wave, received some relief on Thursday evening with light showers along with gusty winds. Rainfall is also reported in many areas including Mehrauli in South Delhi. During this time in Delhi, the maximum temperature also dropped by about seven degrees between six and half past six in the evening.

However, the weather is expected to open up from Friday and heat will gradually return to other parts of North India including Delhi. Contrary to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there was sunshine throughout the day on Thursday. The minimum temperature was also recorded two degrees above normal at 23.4 degrees Celsius which is the highest of this season. At the same time, the maximum temperature was one degree less than normal at 36.3 degree Celsius. The moisture level in the air was recorded at 31 to 58 percent.

Around 5:30 to 6:00 in the evening, the mood of the weather changed somewhat. Not only the clouds, but also black clouds began to appear. Suddenly, light rain started with strong wind. According to the information received from the weather department, between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, Safdarjung recorded 0.5 mm of rain with a wind speed of 18.5 km per hour, while Palam recorded 3.8 mm of rain with a wind speed of 55.5 km per hour.

The Meteorological Department has said that Delhi is likely to remain partly cloudy for the next few days. There may be light rain at some places on Friday. After this the weather will become dry again. Skymet Weather meteorologist Mahesh Palawat said that rain and scattered showers with moderate winds are also expected in parts of Greater Noida and Gurugram. But after this, heat will increase again in all of North India.

On the other hand, several parts of Uttar Pradesh recorded a slight drop in the maximum temperature on Thursday, bringing relief from the scorching heat that has been affecting the state for the past few days. 42.1 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature recorded in Jhansi. After this, Ballia and Basti recorded a temperature of 42 degrees. Varanasi and Prayagraj recorded maximum temperatures of 41.9 degrees and 41.8 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum temperature was recorded at 41.7 degrees in Sultanpur.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that isolated places of the state are likely to experience rain or drizzle.In Himachal Pradesh, intermittent rain accompanied by hailstorm lashed many parts of the state, while tribal areas received fresh snowfall, disrupting normal life. Shimla and nearby tourist spots of Kufri and Chharabra were hit by heavy hailstorm, disrupting traffic. Dark clouds covered the state capital in the afternoon, forcing vehicles to slow down with their headlights on.

Hansa and Kusumseri in tribal Lahaul and Spiti districts recorded 20 cm and 12 cm of fresh snowfall, followed by Gondla (10 cm) and Keylang (7 cm). 63 roads including 42 in Lahaul and Spiti, 11 in Kullu, four in Kinnaur, three in Chamba, two in Kangra and one in Shimla were blocked and 142 transformers were affected, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre.

Kothi was the rainiest place in Himachal with 72 mm of rainfall, followed by Kalpa with 61 mm, Jogindranagar and Rekangpio with 57 mm and Mashobara with 56 mm, the Meteorological Department said.Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh and some other parts of the state also witnessed thunderstorms with lightning and drizzle on Thursday morning due to Western Disturbance and other factors.

Khajuraho, a popular tourist spot in Chhatarpur district, recorded 44.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.An upper cyclonic system formed over south-west Rajasthan and a western disturbance formed over Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, which disrupted the weather pattern across northern India.
