IMD predicts heavy rain at some places in AP, Assam, Puducherry and Karaikal today

New Delhi: IMD has predicted heavy rains at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. Strong winds are expected in Delhi-NCR today during the day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi can go up to 42 degree Celsius on May 21.

New Delhi: IMD has predicted heavy rains at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. Strong winds are expected in Delhi-NCR today during the day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi can go up to 42 degree Celsius on May 21. On May 20, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 40.4 degree Celsius.

According to IMD, the weather is likely to remain dry in Uttar Pradesh today. While there is a possibility of heat wave in South UP. Apart from South UP, heat wave is expected in different parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, South Haryana, West Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.

IMD has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe and wind speed reaching 30-30 kmph. 40 kms Could be hourly. Along with this, showers can also occur. The IMD has predicted thundershowers with lightning at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and South Interior Karnataka.

The IMD said that the Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 3 days. The situation is favorable for further advance of monsoon. At the same time, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from May 23. Due to which there may be heavy rains with thunder in the western Himalayan region.

On the other hand, scattered rains may occur over the plains of northwestern India during May 23 to 26. There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain with hail and lightning in Uttarakhand on May 24. IMD has expressed the possibility of dust storm in isolated areas in Rajasthan from 22 to 24 May.
