Jammu and Kashmir: An official said that a Sikh man was shot dead and one another was critically injured by terrorists in Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night. According to the information, the incident which took place in Srinagar’s Shal Khdal area, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Amrit Paul Singh (31), resident of Amritsar, succumbed to his injuries, while another person was evacuated for medical attention. After the incident, the police cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab the attackers.
The official said that another injured non-local worker identified as Rohit, aged 25, sustained injuries in the incident. Rohit also hails from Amritsar. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers. “The whole area has been cordoned off,” he added.
In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police wrote, “Terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh resident of Amritsar at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, who #succumbed to the injuries. One more person is grievously injured and evacuated for medical attention. The area has been cordoned off. ”
Police said that Rohit was hit by the bullets in the abdomen and is undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital. Meanwhile, BJP leader Altaf Thakur condemned the act and blamed Pakistan for disrupting peace in the valley. He added,
“This clearly shows that Pakistan is not liking the peace in Kashmir…It is attacking non-locals in the dark of the night, like cowards. This is not humane. They are devils. ”
