Medininagar (Jharkhand): A heinous act unfolded from Jharkhand’s Palamu district where drivers of two senior officials allegedly raped a 32-year-old woman on Thursday, police said. Both the accused have been arrested. The accused and the woman were sent to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital for medical check-up, the police said.
Both accused, recognized as Dharmendra Kumar (30), a driver in the escort of the Palamu Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan, and Prakash Kumar (40), the driver at the residence of the Palamu Superintendent of Police Reeshma Ramesan, have been arrested.
According to the victim woman’s complaint, the occurrence occurred on Thursday (December 28) morning when she left Daltonganj Railway Station and went to a mobile recharge shop.
On the pretext of recharging the mobile phone, both the drivers talked to the woman and forcibly took her to the residents’ quarters. Her complaint states that there the two allegedly gang-raped the woman and then threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.
The woman registered a complaint at the town police station, and the accused were apprehended within two hours.
Palamu SP Rishma Ramesan confirmed the incident and stated that action will be taken against the culprits.
