Maharashtra/Latur: Police on Thursday (May 11) arrested a man for allegedly killing his six-year-old daughter by poisoning her and attempting to end her own life in central Maharashtra’s Latur district. The girl died during treatment at a hospital this morning, a police official said.
This painful accident took place on Tuesday in Shahgarh of Ambad tehsil. The 31-year-old used to doubt his wife’s character and often quarreled with her, the officer said. On Monday, there was a fierce fight between the couple, after which the wife went to her maternal home with both the daughters.
The next day, the man went to him and asked him to come back. When she refused, he allegedly force-fed some poisonous substance to the elder daughter. Before he could feed it to the little child, other people intervened, but he himself consumed some of the poison.
The elder daughter, who was admitted to a hospital in Beed, died on Thursday morning after she started vomiting. The police have registered a murder case and further investigation is on, the official said.
