Meet Kanpur’s Google Golden Baba: The Man Covered in 4 Kg of Gold Daily

Introducing Manoj Sengar, famously known as the ‘Google Golden Baba,’ a prominent figure from Kakadeo, Kanpur, who adorns himself with approximately four kilograms of gold every day. Sengar attributes this extravagant display of gold to what he believes are God’s wishes, claiming he doesn’t bother to weigh the gold he wears.

While the late music icon Bappi Lahiri was renowned for his penchant for gold, Sengar’s flamboyant attire sets him apart as a walking gold repository. Inspired by the tradition of Kshatriyas, a warrior caste in ancient India known for their love of gold, Sengar proudly embraces his heritage by donning an array of gold ornaments daily. These include a 261-gram conch shell garland, a 101-gram mask, a Shiva Kavach, an idol of Durga Ji, and even a gold laddu Gopal.

People in Kanpur love Sengar’s unique style. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he got attention for wearing a mask plated in gold, which cost a lot of money.

Recently, Sengar made a promise about his silver shoes. They weigh 4.5 kilograms and used to be part of his daily outfit. But now, he won’t wear them until Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath becomes the Prime Minister. This shows how strongly he feels about certain beliefs.
