MP: Gujarat-bound bus overturns after it skidded off from a culvert in Ujjain; 25 Injured

A road accident has come to light late Saturday night on Mallapura bypass of Ujjain. It is being told that a high speed bus overturned uncontrollably. About 30 passengers have been injured in this accident. Of these, the condition of five passengers is said to be serious.

Ujjain: On Saturday night at around 11 pm, a videocoach bus full of passengers fell down from the culvert and overturned on Bhukhimata-Mullapura road. 25 to 28 passengers were injured in the accident. The condition of some of them is critical. The bus of SN Travels was going from Indore to Rajkot. During this, due to darkness on Mullapura Pulia, the bus driver could not control the vehicle and the accident happened.

Mahakal police said that the SN Travels bus was going from Indore to Rajkot. That’s when this bus accident happened. About 30 people aboard the bus have been injured, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. In which the condition of 5 passengers remains critical. The accident was so severe that the engine of the bus broke apart.

Please inform that the bus reached Ujjain’s Dewasgate at 9 pm, during which the passengers boarded the bus. From here the bus had left for Rajkot, but after reaching near Mullapura bypass, the bus overturned uncontrollably. Due to the overturning of the bus, its engine broke apart. During this, 30 passengers aboard the bus were injured.

On the other hand, as soon as the information about the incident was received, Nilganga, Chintaman, Mahakal and Kotwali police reached the spot and took the injured out of the bus and sent them to the hospital for treatment. Police said that a culvert has been built over the drain on the Mallapura bypass. The accident happened due to blind turn and high speed and rain. The condition of five people among the injured is serious. The condition of the driver is very critical.

Mahakal area City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omprakash Mishra said initial investigation suggested that the bus with around 35 passengers on board was being driven in a rash manner.

After the bus overturned, its front wheels and engine got separated from the vehicle, he said.

The bus skidded off the road and fell 8-feet down before turning turtle, he said, adding that the incident took place at a blind turn, which is an accident-prone area.

“We have filed a case of rash driving against the bus driver, who is being treated at the district hospital,” Mishra said.
