Chhattisgarh: On Sunday, the police said that Naxalites set fire to four trucks carrying iron ore from a mine in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. They said that the incident happened late Saturday night, in which no one was reported injured.

A senior police officer said that four trucks carrying iron ore from Amdai Ghati mine allotted to a private company were stopped by Naxalites near Chhotedongar police station on Orchha-Narayanpur road.

He said that they asked the drivers to deboard the trucks and then set the vehicles on fire and fled from the spot. No person was reported to be injured in the incident which took place late Saturday night, the officer said.

After being alerted, the official added that a police team reached the spot but by then the trucks were completely gutted. Naxals have been opposing the Amdai Ghati mining project for a long time and have earlier burnt vehicles working at the site.

Visuals shared on social media platforms showed the torched remains of the trucks which are completely gutted in the blaze. Narayanpur district falls under the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, which will go to polls on April 19 in the first phase of the general elections.
