In a major development, the Civil Lines police in Prayagraj successfully arrested Rahul Kesarwani on Monday, seizing an illegal revolver, ammunition, a vehicle, and foreign currency from his possession. Rahul, a notorious criminal with two prior criminal cases, including murder and fraud, is now under investigation for his alleged involvement in a range of illegal activities.

Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of the wanted criminal near Sangam Palace, the police swiftly apprehended Rahul Kesarwani in the Lukarganj locality. Recovered items from his possession included an illegal revolver, five .32 caliber cartridges, a car, and currency notes from Nepal and Thailand. Prayagraj’s Civil Lines police made a significant arrest on Monday, capturing a notorious criminal, Rahul Kesarwani, and seizing an illegal revolver, ammunition, a vehicle, and foreign currency from his possession.

Further investigations into Rahul’s criminal history revealed his involvement in a murder case in the Muthiganj area seven years ago, where an elderly man was shot dead. Additionally, a fraud case and other charges were registered against him at the Nawabganj police station in 2016. The police are now intensifying their inquiry into Rahul’s activities, aiming to uncover the extent of his involvement in illegal pursuits.

In a separate incident, a man accused of killing his sister-in-law confessed to the crime, leading to his surrender before the court. Identified as Tarachand, he will now be taken into custody for further investigations and questioning, with the police seeking to recover the weapon used in the offense. The victim, 19-year-old Reena Bind, was found murdered a day before her scheduled marriage in Dalapur Musha village.

Additionally, Daraganj police demonstrated commendable efficiency by reuniting a lost girl with her family within two hours. Employing CCTV surveillance and public assistance, the police swiftly located the eight-year-old near Dashashwamedh Ghat. The child had gone missing while buying chips from a nearby shop, and her safe return was attributed to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the police teams involved in the search.
