On CCTV: Robber steals Gold & Cash worth over ₹3 crore from Pune Jewellery showroom

Pune: In the quiet city of Pune in Maharashtra, the New Year peace was disrupted by a major theft at a local Jewellery shop located in Raviwar Peth area. Precious gold items and cash were lost in the incident that took place on the night of December 31. The total value of the stolen property is Rs 3.13 crore. The matter came to light when the shop owner informed the police about the theft on January 2.

What makes this case particularly intriguing is the absence of forced entry, which suggests a calculated operation. Police suspect that the theft may have been an inside job. This theory is bolstered by CCTV footage, which shows two men entering the shop using duplicate keys, with another man behind them with his face covered. The uncanny ease with which they gained entry points into the involvement of current or former employees of the store.

After receiving shocking information related to the incident, the police have initiated a case against an unknown person. The stolen property included gold Jewellery weighing approximately 5.3 kg, valued at Rs 3.03 crore, along with cash worth Rs 10 lakh 93 thousand. The local police, led by Assistant Police Inspector Vaibhav Gaikwad, have formed a dedicated team to trace the culprits and bring them to justice. At present the investigation is going on and the officials are leaving no stone unturned in their action.

The arrest took place near Bishop’s School, and those apprehended include Arman Kamal Gwala (25 years old), Sumeet Kumar alias Rahul Kumar Ram Singh Yadav (30 years old), and Sonukumar Ramnath Yadav (25 years old), all residents of Bihar.

This shocking incident of theft in the middle of a city known for its peace serves as a stark reminder that crime can happen anywhere, at any time. This underlines the need for strict vigilance and strong security measures, even in seemingly peaceful places. As the investigation unfolds, the town and its residents desperately wait for justice to be served in this high-stakes theft case.
