Mandi, Himachal: Over 200 people, including tourists and locals, are stranded due to flash floods in Bagipul area of ​​Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, the state police said on Sunday.

DSP Padhar Sanjeev Sood of Mandi district police said, “There was a sudden flood in Bagipul area of ​​Mandi district near Parashar lake, leaving more than 200 people, including tourists and locals, stranded near Baggi bridge on Mandi Parashar road.”

DSP Sood said that people are being shifted to safer places in the area. Mandi police informed that the road leading from Kamand towards Parashar has been closed due to the flood that occurred after the cloudburst around Baghi bridge in Mandi.

Police said a bus of students from Chamba and several vehicles returning from Parashar got stuck. “Facilities have been arranged for their overnight stay as there is no possibility of the road opening tonight,” police said.

Meanwhile, landslides have occurred at several places between Charmeel to Sevenmile on the Pandoh-Mandi NH in the state. Police told that the National Highway has been closed and it will take time to open. Officials said, “Small vehicles from Kullu to Pandoh, Sunder Nagar Chandigarh to Nerchowk pass through Chail Chowk.”

Police further said that the Mandi-Kullu road via Katola, closed due to heavy landslide near Kamand, is expected to open tomorrow.
