RCB appoints tennis star Sania Mirza as mentor for women’s team in WPL 2023

New Delhi: Top tennis star Sania Mirza has been appointed as the mentor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the upcoming season of the Women's Premier League. Mirza, who recently retired from tennis, will now be a part of the RCB franchise (Royal Challengers Bangalore).

RCB appoints tennis star Sania Mirza as mentor for women’s team in WPL 2023

New Delhi: Top tennis star Sania Mirza has been appointed as the mentor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League. Mirza, who recently retired from tennis, will now be a part of the RCB franchise (Royal Challengers Bangalore). The official Twitter account of RCB confirmed the development on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, RCB tweeted,“The pioneer in Indian sports for women, a youth icon, someone who has played Bold and broken barriers throughout her career, and a champion on and off the field. We are proud to welcome Sania Mirza as the mentor of the RCB women’s cricket team.”

This step of Sania will become an inspiration for women players. Sania loves cricket and is often seen at cricket venues. The Indian tennis legend recently made it to the final of the Australian Open mixed doubles with Rohan Bopanna.

After her appointment Mirza said in a chat with RCB, “I was a little surprised but I was excited. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’ve been a professional athlete for 20 years. My next job is to try and help young women and young girls believe that sports can be one of the first career choices for them.”
