Jagtial Superintendent of Police, Sunpreet Singh, revealed that the illicit operation was exposed when Bathinoju Rajitha of Karimnagar sought a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) for Kodithala Mahesh from Rabi Rai, a West Bengal native involved in creating fake certificates. The forged document was intended to facilitate Mahesh’s passport application with an Emigration Check Not Required stamp for overseas employment.

Upon verification, the police discovered the falsified certificate, prompting a thorough inquiry into the fraudulent certificate trade. Rajitha, along with her husband Shravan Kumar, Mahesh, and Chandraiah, were subsequently arrested. The police seized a substantial haul from the culprits, including 395 counterfeit certificates from various universities, five mobile phones, a laptop, a CPU, and a two-wheeler.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Rajitha had paid Rs 28,000 to Mahesh for the forged certificate. Additionally, an amount of Rs 15.41 lakh was allegedly transferred to the account of Laxmi Rai, Rabi Rai’s mother, by Rajitha. The authorities have declared Rabi Rai and Laxmi Rai as absconding, intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend them.

The police underscored the ongoing investigation’s focus on determining the extent of the fake certificate distribution network and identifying individuals who may have acquired such fraudulent documents. This significant crackdown aims to curb the illegal trade of counterfeit education certificates and uphold the integrity of academic qualifications.
