Uttar Pradesh: Woman judge receives death threat, police case registered

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police logged a case against unknown persons after a woman judge alleged that she had received a letter threatening her. The FIR, registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 467 (forgery of valuable security) of the Indian Penal Code.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police logged a case against unknown persons after a woman judge alleged that she had received a letter threatening her. The FIR, registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 467 (forgery of valuable security) of the Indian Penal Code.

The woman judge concerned has also specified three individuals who might be responsible for sending the alleged letter to her. Last year, The woman judge had alleged that she had been sexually harassed by a district judge.

Months later, the judge claimed that she has received a threat letter. The woman judge has added that if the post office CCTV footage is examined, then it will become clear as to who sent the said letter and the conspiracy will be exposed.

In her complaint to the police, She claimed that the sexual harassment allegations could be the reason behind the death threat letter. However, she said that the sexual harassment case is pending in the Prayagraj High Court.

The judge also said that the name, phone number and address written on the envelope could be fake. Taking cognizance of her complaint,Anoop Dubey, SHO Kotwali Nagar confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and further legal action is being taken. He added that the CCTV footage will be examined in an attempt to nab the accused.
