Uttarakhand: Caught on CCTV, Speeding SUV hits scooty in Haldwani; One dead, another critically injured

Haldwani: Harshita Verma, a 22-year-old girl, died in a road accident on the day of Holi in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Whereas, her friend Lavi Joshi is seriously injured. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Now the CCTV footage of this accident has come to the fore. It can be seen in the CCTV footage that a safari has hit his scooty. After the collision, both the girls get dragged along with the scooty to a distance. Police has arrested the car driver. Police sticker is on the car.

It can be clearly seen in the CCTV footage that the Safari car is coming from Mukhani intersection towards Sushila Tiwari, while scooty rider Harshita Verma, resident of Rampur Road, leaving her friend, is going towards Mukhani. A painful road accident happened near KVM school on Mukhani road and Harshita died on the spot.

Not only this, a video has also surfaced where it can be seen that after the accident, the driver of the safari car is taking away the car, which the scooty riders are chasing and trying to catch. Scooty riders are trying to stop the safari car, but it runs away at high speed.

Police officer Bhupendra Singh Dhoni says that the accused car driver has been arrested along with the car. He has been identified as Kiran Joshi. He is basically a resident of Pithoragarh. Police is written on the top of the safari car, after which questions are being raised on the police as well. It is being told that the Safari car belongs to a sub-inspector, which was sold to an auto dealer a few months ago.

Police investigation has revealed that the car is still in the name of the policeman and its transfer has not happened yet. Police officials say that after arresting the accused Kiran Joshi, further action is being taken by registering a case under relevant sections.
