Winter session of the Up assembly is scheduled to commence on November 28th

The winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been officially scheduled to convene at 11 am on November 28, 2023. Principal Secretary of the UP Legislative Assembly, Pradeep Dubey, has confirmed that a notification dated November 11, 2023, has been issued in this regard by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has indicated that the winter session is expected to span nearly a week. During this session, the state government intends to present its first supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024 in the assembly. However, sources familiar with the matter have revealed that the precise size of the supplementary budget and the specific items to be included are still in the process of finalization.

Apart from the budgetary matters, the state government is poised to address legislative business during the winter session. This will involve presenting ordinances that were promulgated subsequent to the last session, along with bills that have recently received the approval of the state cabinet. Notably, one of the bills to be presented is the Uttar Pradesh Inland Waterways Authority Bill 2023, which obtained the state cabinet’s nod at its meeting in Ayodhya on November 9, 2023. The comprehensive legislative agenda underscores the multifaceted nature of the upcoming winter session, where important financial matters and key legislative actions will take center stage.
